Atelier’s director Stephen Nicolazzo has been nominated for Best Direction at this years Green Room Awards for his work on Dracula, produced by his company Little Ones Theatre.
Dracula is inspired by “the cinematic evolution of one of literature’s most intriguing queer figureheads, a sumptuous and visual re-telling of Stoker’s classic gothic novel.”
The nomination is a honour for Stephen as The Green Room Awards have been Melbourne’s premier peer-presented, performing arts industry awards since 1982 and recognise outstanding achievements in productions from Cabaret, Contemporary & Experimental Performance, Dance, Independent Theatre, Music Theatre, Opera and Theatre Companies.
This is Stephen’s second nomination for Best Direction at the Green Rooms. He was also nominated in 2013 for his production Psycho Beach Party. In 2015, he directed Meme Girls, a work he co-created with Ash Flanders and Marion Potts for Malthouse Theatre which today received nomainations for Lighting & Production Design.
